Day 5-Bend to Salt Lake City

Let me start by saying I'm thankful Kira is like her brother and dad in that she enjoys driving. I don't mind driving but would never claim to enjoy it and I'm happy to be the passenger. Kira is an excellent driver, alert, observant and has quick reflexes when some idiot decides to make a move into our lane without looking first.

Today was a long day of driving! We started out by stopping in Bend for coffee and then we were on our way.

Our only other break was a stop in Boise. First we stopped at Wal-Mart for an oil change. On a holiday that aren't many choices but not many people are getting work done on their cars so we were in and out in a half hour.  Then we headed to The Edge Brewery for a flight and dinner.

Then back on the road. 

We approached SLC as darkness settled in and the fireworks began! It was quite a show. They were going off in every direction for over an hour. Fireworks are legal here so many of them were from backyards. Talk about distracted driving, but Kira did great.

Once we checked into our hotel we headed to Red Rock Brewery for a flight and a late night snack. They also had a good deal on shirts and hats so Kira picked up a shirt and I got the hat.

Then it was time to crash and get ready for another day of driving.
