Day 11 Mesa to El Paso

We took mom to The Good Egg for breakfast before leaving town. After a round of hugs and kisses and goodbyes we were off to continue our journey.
Three Generations

It was a long drive and not much to look at except storms in the distance. We stopped at The High Desert Brewing Co in Las Cruses for dinner. It was an older brewery and not like the others we have visited. But the flight was good and the sandwich was filling. It was also very dark in there so the pictures did not turn out well at all.

Storms around us

As we were eating Kim let us know El Paso was getting hit by bad storms. I wondered if we should stay put but Kira suggested we go get ice cream and give it a try. She, of course, was right. We could see the next storm rolling in but we beat it.

The storm we beat to El Paso!

We spent the night with my friend Kimberly whom I had met at ISTE and last saw four years ago. Kim is getting back in education so it was fun to catch up and promise to find ways to connect our classes next year. It was also fun to sit in her home on top of a hill and watch the storm all around us. She also pointed out the border fence and the light difference between the US and Mexico. Interesting... Kim's daughter was caught in another part of town and couldn't get home due to flooded roads. Kim showed us pics her EP friends were posting of storm damage. Like home, it hit some areas hard and other places were fine.
