Today's drive seemed to last forever! 7.5 hours of driving and not much to see. We stopped at Cotton Eyed Joe's for our cheapest breakfast. We both had burritos.
We ate food in the car for lunch, I enjoyed Rod's peach pie. I am finding some signs and even an insect you wouldn't see in N.Y.

When we arrived in San Antonio we checked into the hotel and then picked up a map and got walking directions to The Alamo just a little over a mile away. It was hot,101°!! We weren't far into our walk before Kira started whining about the heat which is something she does in a teasing way from time to time. But this time she kept it up.
We waited in line to go the Alamo, not worth it in the heat and long line, but we did it.
Then we headed to The Riverwalk but I took the wrong turns because we never went by all the restaurants and bars I know are there. I wanted to stop in to get something to drink to help Kira out. She was wilting and feeling sick. We ended up back at the car where she was able to drink water then we drove to dinner. By the time we got there she was cold. Definitely dehydrated. After some more water and sitting on AC she finally started feeling better and was ready for dinner.
We ate at the Blue Star Brewery. We got there just in time to hear a mariachi band. They just played one song. Of course we got a sampler and since it was our only stop we got a big one. We are happy to be out of hoppy beer country. I tried the Pig Pot Pie for something different. The pieces of pork on the outside were hard but once I dug in the pork inside was tender and tasty.
Over all this stop was disappointing due to the heat, we should have left the hotel with water....oh well. Tomorrow is a new adventure.
