Day 2 Washington to Astoria OR

Once the tent was down we ate breakfast in the car to avoid the mosquitoes. Then we were off to my brother Rod's house. Along the way we stopped for a quick beach walk to look for sand dollars. No luck but I love being on the beach.

Love the plants growing out of the stump.

Foggy morning in B/W

Once we got to Rod's we had a tour of his cute house and impressive gardens. Then we headed into Astoria to wander around and check out the Fort George Brewery for lunch.

We also got a tour of the new Northwest Food Web offices. What a nice facility that is going to be. Rod does volunteer work for them. (Sorry no pics of it.) A highlight of the day was getting to see Rod's art work on display. The opening was a couple of weeks ago, I was glad it was still up for us to see.

Then we wandered along the dock and headed out of town just a bit for a cup of coffee at Coffee Girl and sat by the river to enjoy it.
My favorite sign of the day.
We went back to this brewery after dinner.

It was breezy so it didn't take long for the coffee to cool down.
Cool looking theater
Next up was a walk on the beach and this time Kira got a sand dollar, thanks to a stranger. We saw quite a few para--sailers in the distance, it was a very windy day for them.

After dinner and a stop at Bouy Brewery it was time to head back to Rod's. While watering his garden he picked a snail off the garlic. I pulled out the macro lens to get some pictures of it. We ended the day witht Rod's delicious rhubarb apple pie, I should have taken a picture of that beauty!

It was a great day!
