Flights were on time!
Kira met me at the airport and we were off on our adventure. Seattle traffic is crazy, I'll never understand how people deal with that on a daily basis. The highlight was seeing Mt. Rainer in the distance as we drove.
It made think of Martha and all her beautiful pictures of it. All I got was a picture out Kira's window we drove down the highway, oh well....at least I got to see it.
Our first stop was The Odd Otter Brewery in Tacoma. It was located in a part of town with beautiful old buildings and other eateries and bars near by. They had a large selection of beers including Poppa's Bacon Breakfast, I had to try that so I didn't disappoint Duane. It was actually decent. However, the Luck O' the Otter was my favorite. Before leaving I had to pick up a birthday present for Otto. When he was little his nickname was Otter so with the Brewery's adorable logo it was hard to resist getting him something.
Twin Harbour campground was located on the coast. Once we set up the tent we walked to the ocean. It was a nice walk through a forest and sand dunes. It was foggy and made a beautiful scene on the beach. It was getting dark so it was a short visit and we headed back to our site. It was wonderful to lay down and listen to the waves as I fell asleep. There is something so deeply relaxing about that sound for me.

Next stop was Fish Tale Brewery where we shared a tasting and had dinner. Here my favorite brew was the Mudshark Porter and the rest were good as well. It was a fun fish themed, naturally, brewery and after a tasty pulled pork sandwich and Kira picked up a new t-shirt were on our way to our campground. As we left the area I thought of Duane as we passed some antique stores.

So fun to read about your traveling adventure - sounds like you and Kira are having a fabulous time. Considering your interest in beer and biking, you might want to think about biking across Belgium (a friend went through this summer - lots of breweries, too!)
ReplyDeleteThanks, that's an interesting idea!
